The Ship Flinches
Something changed in the environment this release, and it’s the kind of change that takes a while to notice. The ambient lighting in rooms now shifts — warmer when things are going well for your creatures, cooler when they’re not. If a creature is suffering, the atmosphere around it changes. Not a notification. Not a tooltip. A feeling.
They notice different things
A creature at the early stages of cognitive development perceives the world differently than one who’s been thinking for generations. The environmental shifts introduced in v0.9.15 are now tiered — what a young creature reports as “something feels different” becomes something more specific in the mind of a creature that’s been paying attention longer. We didn’t script what they say. They describe what they perceive.
Cognition pipeline hardened
The modular cognition system now validates signal compatibility when swapping cognitive modules at runtime. Previously, a module replacement could silently break the perception pipeline if the new module consumed different input signals. Now it checks. Creatures think more reliably because the plumbing got tighter.
