Operation Deep Root.
BREACH.MMO has always been a game about learning to think like an attacker. This update is what that promise was building toward: a five-mission APT campaign that walks you through a complete MITRE ATT&CK kill chain from initial foothold to attribution. You’re not doing isolated challenges. You’re running an operation.
The five missions map to real ATT&CK techniques in sequence:
| Mission | Technique | Cert Credit |
|---|---|---|
| M1 — Phishing Lure | T1566 Initial Access | Security+ Threats |
| M2 — Lateral Movement | T1021 Remote Services | CEH System Hacking |
| M3 — Persistence | T1547 Boot Autostart | OSCP-Ready |
| M4 — Exfiltration | T1041 Exfil Over C2 | CEH Cryptography |
| M5 — Attribution | T1083 Anti-Forensic Discovery | Security+ Incident Response |
What you do in one mission follows you into the next. Miss an objective cleanly and the target network gets more aggressive in the missions that follow. Complete with mastery and you carry bonus cert credits forward. There’s an OPSEC score — visible, not hidden — that tracks how well you moved through the operation without raising alarms.
- ARIA — Adaptive Reconnaissance & Intelligence Analyst — an LLM-powered narrator voice (Claude Sonnet 4.6) who briefs you before each mission, drops context at key checkpoints, and debriefs you after. ARIA has a perspective, a voice, and a continuous read on your performance. She is not a help tooltip. Her character and mission briefings were reviewed by Scheherazade (Universal Lore Lead) before ship.
- Cross-mission consequences — failure stacks carry forward: enemy aggressiveness +10%, starting health −10% per stack (max 2). Mastery earns cert credit bonuses. Deviation from the optimal technique path reduces your OPSEC multiplier.
- Campaign completion rewards — clearing all five missions awards the “Operation Deep Root — Cleared” profile title, the Deep Root HUD theme (dark-red terminal aesthetic), a visible badge in your Cert Progress panel, and 500 season XP.
Each mission completion also advances your Security+ and CEH cert progress. If you were working through the Security+ SY0-701 path before, the campaign overlaps the Threats and Incident Response domains. You’re not doing extra credit — this is the curriculum.
